Urushi Dip Pen Nib Holder

Experience the classic grace of timeless handwriting with the elegant feel of Kakimori’s Urushi Dip Pen Nib Holder.

Teaming the Urushi Nib Holder with a Dip Pen Nib opens up a unique writing experience that draw on centuries-old writing traditions. By holding the instrument at different angles, you’re able to create distinct, evocative line variations that add a certain vitality to your writing. Simply dip the nib in a bottle of ink, and experiment with the possibilities on offer.

The Urushi Nib Holder is crafted from Japanese cherry wood that has been lacquered with a fuki-urushi (“wiped urushi”) technique, which preserves and enhances the wood’s natural grain to a truly striking effect. Fuki-urushi is a traditional technique that is also widely used in historic architecture to highlight both the beauty of the woodgrain and the lacquer itself. Its length is similar to a standard pencil, and its weight sits easily in your hand as you write. Suits Kakimori dip pens nibs, and most standard dip pen nibs. Nibs sold separately.
